As for the power of community, we had a micro-demonstration of it just last weekend when our power went off. It was 6:30 a.m. and pitch black outside, but I didn&amp;#39;t panic because we have family farmers milking cows behind our place. I figured they&amp;#39;d be calling our power company even if they had generators to let them finish the milking. We also have an elderly next-to-next-door neighbor couple who plays the cop channel all day on their radio, and we figured they&amp;#39;d be up and calling, too. Sure enough, by the time we could see well enough to call in, our power company assured us that others had called and crews were already out here. That&amp;#39;s community action at its best!</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8842852562944962435/3554586130904976898/comments/default/6388673650250513734'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8842852562944962435/3554586130904976898/comments/default/6388673650250513734'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.robertsroostfarm.com/2009/10/power-of-community-post-in-two-parts.html?showComment=1256654270983#c6388673650250513734' title=''/><author><name>our friend Ben</name><uri>http://ourfriendben.wordpress.com/</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img1.blogblog.com/img/blank.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.robertsroostfarm.com/2009/10/power-of-community-post-in-two-parts.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8842852562944962435.post-3554586130904976898' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8842852562944962435/posts/default/3554586130904976898' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-265905911'/></entry></feed>
